A simple white cake recipe.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup milk, room temperature
- 6 egg whites, room temperature (about 3/4 cup)
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups cake flour, sifted
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans (I also recommend adding a circle of parchment paper to the bottom of each pan to further ensure the cake doesn’t stick.)
- In a medium bowl, stir together the room temperature milk and egg whites along with the vanilla and almond extracts until blended.
